“Seizing the opportunity of taking a typical stepping stone and making it an engaging exploratory destination in itself.”
During these middle years we encourage our students to maintain their curiosity and creativity while stretching their self confidence and self-advocacy. Students begin to think critically and reason abstractly.
Through the Middle School experience, students strengthen their independent learning skills and begin to pursue specific learning interests.
“SFMS students are guided in developing knowledge, embracing the attitudes, and acquiring the skills they need to manage complexity and take responsibility for their future.”
Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 are given many opportunities to develop their academic skills and acquire knowledge and understanding, as well as explore special talents and interests. We are proud of being able to offer students an excellent, diverse, and challenging program that is student-centered and developmentally appropriate.
In addition to the wide range of curricular experiences that our middle school students experience, they also have access to a plethora of extra curricular exploration opportunities, which are aimed at helping students define their talents and interests.
These opportunities include but are not limited to drama, debate club, National History Day, KAIAC sports, Junior Model United Nations, House Leadership, youth ministry, Jazz, & Praise Bands.
