The Walt Whitman Library is located on the ground floor of the High School building. Flooded with light, this open space has flexible seating options for student study and private workrooms for collaboration.

The Middle Years Library welcomes Key Stage 3 students from the British School and Middle School students.

Located on the ground floor of the Middle School building, the library provides an impressive, light, learning space where every student is welcome. The space has been recognized by the American Institute of Architects with a design award, and features a large collaborative space, group study rooms, window seating and the famous “secret library.”

We are delighted to welcome your child to the library: a bright, welcoming learning environment featuring cosy reading nooks, collaborative workspaces and the spectacular "hammock." The mission of the SFES library is to create a community of life-long learners who effectively use information and find enjoyment in the printed word.

We are equipped with over 14,000 materials including books and e-books, as well as multiple online subscriptions and resources.

The British School Library provides access to a broad range of information resources, specifically for students in Key Stage 1 & 2. Key Stage 3 students use the Middle Years library alongside Middle School students.

Goals for Students

• To provide access to supporting materials and services to students, faculty and families
• To provide resources as needed in the classroom to achieve the outcomes of the English National Curriculum
• To promote literacy and the love of reading
• To instruct students in basic library skills and to assist them in making effective use of information in various formats
