Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed (AWANA). Inspired by 2 Timothy 2:15, AWANA is a Christian club program that meets every Wednesday from 3:10-4:50 pm in the Elementary School cafeteria. Students Grades K-5 and Key Stage 1-2 play games, partake in group and individual Bible verse memorization, and learn about the Christian faith. AWANA has a rewards system that motivates each child. After school late bus is available for Grades 1-5.

The discipleship program is open to Middle School, Key Stage 3, and High School students. Small groups of 4-8 students meet weekly for about an hour on Thursday 4:00-5:00 pm. Group activities vary, and is tailored to the needs and interests of the students.

For some, it is a safe place to talk about questions in their faith or wrestle with a variety of life issue from a Christian perspective. Others read a book by a Christian author together or study a book of the Bible. Others want to learn more about Christianity and the basics of faith.

This project operates through the Eugene Bell Foundation, allowing students the opportunity to raise awareness and funds to purchase medical kits for tuberculosis patients in North Korea.

G2G is a monthly outreach program, taking place onFridays. G2G, like IMPACT, has two components. A group of High School leaders, called Ohana, meet weekly to plan the larger group activities.

These large group activities typically involve community building, snacks and treats, and a 5-15 minute message on Christ or the sharing of a personal faith testimony, given by student leaders or faculty members.

The annual all-school Hearts to Serve assembly brings the school together under the theme of developing a “heart to serve,” following the model of Christ as He came to serve.

This event encourages each member of the SFS community, and serves as a reminder that just one person can make positive and lasting differences in the world. Each section contributes to this celebration.

The IMPACT program consists of two components: the Christian Ministries Leader meets weekly with a group of 10 Middle School and Key Stage 3 student leaders, called Impact Student Leaders (ISL), in which they develop their Christian leadership skills and plan larger outreach events for the rest of the MS/KS3 students.

They hold one large event each month, open to all the students in Middle School and Key Stage 3. At the large group events, students participate in activities, enjoy a snack, and listen to a short Christ-focused message or personal testimony.

Psalms is a non-audition choir, made up of high school students and SFS faculty and community members. All are welcome to come and enjoy this time of fellowship, music-making, and praise time every Thursday evening.

Choir rehearsal is from 5:15-6:30 pm, concluding with a short personal praise sharing session. All voices are welcome!

United in Prayer takes place in September. Students and staff gather on the field for scripture reading and prayer. During this schoolwide gathering, the SFS community joins in prayer for the world, the nation of Korea, SFS, and our friends and families. Prayers are offered from every age group and in several languages, representing the international diversity of SFS.

Vida Nueva is a powerful, life changing retreat held twice a year, one in the fall and once in the spring. It is dubbed, “A short course in Christian living.” About 80 students and 10-15 adults work for two months to train and prepare for the weekend.

Thirty-six high school students from international schools around Seoul attend the retreat.

The World Vision 30 hour Famine is available to middle school and Key Stage 3 students. The program is sponsored and organized by Impact Student Leaders (ISL) and High School volunteers.

Students are encouraged to participate in a 30 hour fast to understand with world hunger. Activities and discussion times are organized throughout a day event. Pledges are solicited to raise money to combat the plight of starvation throughout the world.

Throughout the year, SFS contributes service, fundraising and support for the following organizations in Korea:

• Eastern Social Welfare Society
• Angels' Haven

Partnerships with these local organizations provides service opportunities for our students. Our goal is to leave a lasting impact on the lives of disadvantaged children of Korea.
