Illness
If your child is ill and unable to attend school, please call your child’s section office or email your child’s homeroom teacher and the Health Office on the first day of the illness. It would be helpful to describe the nature of the illness so that the Health Office can watch for general trends. The Health Office email address is healthoffice@seoulforeign.org.
In order to prevent other students from being exposed to illnesses, parents are asked to keep an ill student at home or pick up their child from school as soon as possible when:
- The student has a fever of 100°F (37.8°C) or higher. (37.5°C or higher during COVID-19 pandemic)
- The student is vomiting or has diarrhea. If your child vomits and/or has watery diarrhea, please keep the child home for 24 hours after the last episode.
- The student has symptoms that prevent him/her from participating in school activities (e.g., excessive fatigue, lack of appetite, productive coughing, headache, body aches, earache, or severe sore throat)
- The student’s condition is suspected to be contagious (e.g., unknown rash or red eye(s) with sticky discharge) - in such cases, a doctor’s clearance note is required in order for the student to return to school
Based on the SFS Fever Policy, students with fever are NOT allowed to take the school bus due to potential spread and contamination. Please note that students with fever should NOT return to school until they are fever-free for 24 hours WITHOUT the use of fever-reducing medicines.
Communicable Diseases
A student with confirmed communicable disease MUST be kept at home. A doctor’s clearance note is required in order for the student to return to school.
