We are delighted to have Inspire Citizens back at SFS! This week our 8th-grade VoiceLab Design classes went out into the neighbourhood to create their “Into the Gu” videos. The day began with a kick-off from Steve Sostak and Aaron Moniz from Inspire Citizens. @inspirecitizens Aaron & Steve specialize in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), service learning, and community engagement; they have been helping our students plan and deliver their “Into the Gu” projects. Students then skyped with Aaron Henkin, an NPR reporter from the US, winner of the Edward R. Murrow Award, who inspired our students to tell stories that are hidden in plain sight. We also connected with The Critics Company (via skype), an up-and-coming film making team from Nigeria.
After these morning sessions, students went “Into the Gu” (Yonsei University, Sinchon, Yeonhui-dong) where they captured footage and interviews from members of our local community for their first summative design task. Following lunch, students spent time editing and celebrating their work for the day. We will be posting the best projects on our website (www.voicelab.seoulforeign.org) when they are completed.
We encourage you to check The website to see some of the work our past VoiceLab students have completed. We are incredibly proud of the work they have accomplished!
