1. Review Eligibility Requirements

Required Documents
Following documents are required as part of the application process.
A
One or both parents hold foreign passports (non-Korean passport):
- Copy of valid passport title page of child, father, and mother
- Copy of child’s birth certificate and/or Korean Family Registry
- Copy (front and back) of parents’ valid Alien Registration Card
B
Both parents hold Korean passports (including those who hold dual passports):
- Copy of valid passport title page of child, father, and mother
- Copy of child’s Korean Family Registry
- Student’s Certificate of Entry and Exit to support that the student has spent 1,095 days or more outside of Korea (Reference period from birth)
- If student is a dual citizen, copies of both passports, and Certificate of Entry and Exit for both passports
C
One or both parents are naturalized Korean citizens whose child is deemed to be unable to continue enrollment in the local school system (Grades 1-12), as determined by the deliberation of the school’s Operations Committee, and approved by the Principal of the local school:
- Copy of valid passport title page of the child, father, and mother
- Copy of child’s Korean Family Registry
- Original Identification Certificate (기본 증명서) of the parents
- Original letter issued by the Principal of the local school confirming the deliberation of the Operations Committee
2. Check Availibility

Submit an Inquiry Form to Check Availablity
With many grade levels full for the start of the 2025-2026 school year, please submit an Inquiry Form to check for seat availability before proceeding with the online application.
Important Note
To apply for the 2026-2027 school year, complete the online application form which will be available through our website on November 13, 2025.
3. Submit an Application

Submit An Application
- Create a username and password to begin the online application.
- Complete the application and submit payment (a non-refundable application fee must be paid before the application can be processed).
- Completed applications will be reviewed, and an admissions decision will be informed via email.
Please note the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is August 10th, 2026.
4. Application Requirements

Requirements for All Applicants
- Non-refundable application processing fee (KRW 400,000 per applicant)
- Birth certificate (for non-Korean students) translated into English and notarized
– OR –
Certificate of Family Relations (if at least one parent holds a Korean passport) in English - Passport copies of father, mother, and student (of all valid passports)
- If at least one parent holds a non-Korean passport, additional documents are required:
- Maintain Foreign Passport Form
- Agreement to Submit Proof of Legal Resident Status Upon Acceptance Form
- Alien Registration Card
*SFS does not sponsor Student Visa
– OR –
- If both parents hold Korean passports, additional documents are required:
- Student's Certificate of Entry and Exit for all nationalities (covering the period from birth)
Age-specific Requirements (in addition to those listed above)
- Ages 2-5 (PK2 to Kindergarten; Foundation 3 to Year 1)
- Ages 6-10 (Grades 1 to 5; Years 2 to 6)
- Ages 11-13 (Grades 6 to 8)
- Ages 14-17 (Grades 9 to 12)

Ages 6-10 (Grades 1 to 5; Years 2 to 6)
All documents as listed above in Requirements for All Applicants, PLUS:
- Report cards from the current year and the previous two academic years, translated into English and notarized.
- Confidential teacher recommendation form filled out by current teacher through the application platform.
- Informal Interview with the Director of Admissions or with a Section Counselor may be requested.
Ages 11-13 (Grades 6 to 8)
All documents as listed above in Requirements for All Applicants, PLUS:
- Report cards from the current year and the previous two academic years, translated into English and notarized.
- Two confidential teacher recommendation forms: One to be filled out by the current Mathematics teacher and the other by the current English teacher, through the application platform.
- Counselor Reference Form filled out by current counselor through the application platform.
Ages 14-17 (Grades 9 to 12)
All documents as listed above in Requirements for All Applicants, PLUS:
- Report cards from the current year and the previous two academic years, translated into English and notarized.
- Two confidential teacher recommendation forms: One to be filled out by the current Mathematics teacher and the other by the current English teacher, through the application platform.
- Counselor Reference Form filled out by current counselor through the application platform.
Assessment
Ages 2-5 (PK2 to Kindergarten; Foundation 3 to Year 1)
SFS Early Childhood Assessment (to be arranged upon completion of application).
Ages 6-10 (Grades 1 to 5; Years 2 to 6)
- SFS Admissions Test, which may or may not include an onsite ELL evaluation. If applicant is abroad, test can be sent to an invigilator at the applicant’s current school.
- Writing Test. If applicant is abroad and is sending a standardized test score in lieu of taking the Admissions Test, a Writing Test can be sent to an invigilator at the applicant's current school.
Ages 11-13 (Grades 6 to 8) & Ages 14-17 (Grades 9 to 12)
- SFS Admissions Test, which may or may not include an onsite ELL evaluation. If applicant is abroad, a standardized test score taken within the last 12 months can be accepted, or a test can be sent to an invigilator at the applicant’s current school.
- Writing Test. If applicant is abroad, and is sending a standardized test score in lieu of taking the Admissions Test, a Writing Test can be sent to an invigilator at the applicant’s current school.
- Informal interview with the Director of Admissions or with a Section Counselor may be requested.
