Enrichment Opportunities

The IB program, through MYP and DP, provides students with opportunities to engage authentically with co-curricular interests and activities. The MYP Personal Project allows all 10th graders to extend their knowledge and skills through a passion project. DP students showcase their academic research skills and interests through the Extended Essay. All SFS students are encouraged to personalize their CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) experience in order to make their extracurricular engagement more meaningful and impactful.

Additionally, there are many ways in which students can continue to learn and grow outside of the classroom. Often, these opportunities influence students’ choices for their Personal Project and Extended Essay. With balance and wellbeing in mind, we encourage students to engage in developing their personal growth outside of the classroom.

Summer Programs

Participating in an organized summer program or summer school is one of many ways our students can spend a part of their summer. If you plan to apply to summer programs, then follow the instructions outlined here to request support from your counselor. Please allow at least 3 business weeks to process your supporting documents.

Remember that expensive does not necessarily equate to impressive when it comes to summer experiences. In fact, inexpensive or no-cost experiences can often be even more impressive. Think outside the box when planning your summer and pursue your interests/passions because if you don’t enjoy it then you won’t find much meaning from your experience.

Although SFS does not endorse any particular programs or activities, below is a list of opportunities that are available to many of our students. This is not an exhaustive list so please do your own research if you do not find something appropriate for your interests.
