Welcome from the Elementary School Division Head

Principal Gaylord

Welcome to Seoul Foreign School! I am proud to be the principal of this outstanding student-centered institution of learning. Thank you for coming to our SFS Elementary School public website, I trust you find the information you need. If your questions are not answered please contact the Elementary School office at esoffice@seoulforeign.org and I would be pleased to share with you further about SFS.

The Seoul Foreign School community nurtures a child's natural curiosity and desire to grow. We accomplish this by exposing them to a variety of fun and meaningful activities throughout their school career at SFS. Students enjoy many opportunities to develop their talents and skills-reading, sports, singing, solving problems of all kinds, and working constructively with classmates. Students show a great deal of pleasure and pride in their activities. The social, emotional and academic development of our students is important to us. Our teachers plan their academic programs to meet various student needs. We treat all areas equally and we meet students' needs through the many and varied school and community activities: a coordinated spiritual studies program, a full elementary counseling program and many after school electives along with our dynamic classroom curriculum. In addition, teachers and students actively explore ways to use technology to extend and enrich learning.

We believe in open communication between home and school; an active PTA and parent classroom volunteers work in partnership with the school to promote learning in and beyond the classroom. SFS communicates with the community through our Edline program which was fully implemented during the 2006-2007 school year. After acceptance into Seoul Foreign School, our parents receive activation codes and have the ability to get into our dedicated school sites.

With our new purpose built elementary school facility, we offer music, art and Korean classes; three levels of Korean language are offered in grades three, four and five. LCD projectors are being installed in classrooms along with interactive Smart whiteboards. Our ultimate goal is to outfit each homeroom with the interactive board to enhance curriculum presentation and student learning.

SFS, a Christ-centered school, emphasizes Christ-like attitudes. Assemblies and day to day activities stress how important it is to listen, be considerate, and give one's best each day. We also encourage students to be the kind of person that they would want for a friend themselves--honest, kind, helpful, and friendly.

It is a privilege to be a part of such a dynamic learning community. I trust you find the best living and educational environment for your family here at Seoul Foreign School. Please let me know if you need further information and thank you for your interest in SFS.
