About the ES Library
Welcome to the ES Library
The Seoul Foreign School Elementary Library is committed to its students in inspiring a love of reading within them and in developing educational technology and research skills which will boost and support the students’ life long learning.
The library is a resource center for learning and enjoyment, a collection of 22,000 books, 40 magazine subscriptions, teacher resources and audio-visual materials, including a student video and DVD collection.
The library collection is divided into two areas: the Everybody collection for the entire elementary school community and the Junior collection for the older grades. These collections are identified by the location letter E or J in the library catalog and on the resource spine label.
The Follett Destiny online library catalog is a user friendly web based program which permits easy access at school and at home. Destiny also connects the user to the other Seoul Foreign School division libraries.
In addition to being introduced to literature in the library, students participate in activities selected to introduce and reinforce research skills so that students may feel comfortable and confident using library resources independently.
Pre-schoolers through 3rd graders have weekly library visits in which time is used for students to select books, listen to stories, be introduced to quality children's literature and learn basic library research skills.
4th and 5th graders' library classes support the classroom curriculum focusing on different genres of literature and teaching the research process using a variety of resources the library provides.
We have recently moved into a new library facility that better accommodates our many students and resources. Sunlight pours in all year long through the glass windows that encircle the entire library and patrons will be pleasantly surprised at the spacious and colorful facility situated on the second floor of the elementary school building. Please feel free to visit us at our new location. The friendly team of the library staff is always in the library to welcome and assist you.
The library is usually open from 7:30 to 3:30 Monday to Friday.
